Dayong,fromZhaoVillage,rescuesthreeinjuredsoldiersfromtheEighthRouteArmyonhiswayhome.TheJapanesearmycomestothevillageinsearchofthem,andthevillagershidetheinjuredsoldiersawayintheirhomes.Thevillagersoftenbringfoodandsuppliesforthesoldiers,buttraitorsWangBaochangandWangSandiscovertrailsoftheirblood.TheyalertinterpreterZhaoEr,wholeadsacaptainofaJapanesemilitarypolicecorp,YamamotoTarotothreatenandkillthevillagersonebyoneinordertopressurethem.Dayongcan'tbeartowatchhisdearGuixiangandinnocentvillagersgetkilled,soherevealsthehiddenlocationoftheEighthRouteArmysoldiers,makinghimatraitortothevillage.ThecapturedsoldiersaretorturedbytheJapanesearmyinthecamp,andDayongdecidestosacrificehislifeandrescuethemwithbombs.Therescuedsoldierstellthetruthtotheothervillagers,andtheyfinallyunderstandwhathappened.Theguerrillatroopsarriverightaftertheexplosion,butDayong'sfateisstillunknown...
